Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship (IYE) Program
What is IYE?
The Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship (IYE) Program supports Indigenous youth (ages 18–39) in starting, growing, and sustaining their own businesses. We help break down barriers, build skills, and create strong networks to drive economic growth, increase employment, and strengthen entrepreneurship within Indigenous communities.
Business Support Services
- One-on-one guidance from a dedicated Business Support Officer (BSO)
- Access to mentorship and support for setting both short- and long-term goals
- Skills development workshops
- Assistance with business plan creation and strategy development
- Help navigating financing options and business support programs
Skills Development Workshops
The IYE program hosts free skills development and training workshops for IYEs in the region, discussing subjects like pricing, budgeting, funding, marketing, taxation, and other aspects of owning a business in a First Nations community.
IYE Micro Loan Fund
- Micro-Loans: Available to Indigenous youth entrepreneurs in any business sector
through the IYE Program
- Maximum loan per business: $25,000
- Grant Contribution: Up to 45% of your loan covered for eligible applicants
Eligibility
- Must be Indigenous and between 18–39 years old
- Business must be located in the Dehcho region of the Northwest Territories
